Forget ladies who lunch, New
Zealand’s Range Rover marketers aim Evoque at manly men, though they admit more
women are buying than ever before, particularly overseas. One wonders if that’s
partly down to Evoque’s more compact size – it’s closer to a Porsche Boxster in
length than its Sport and Vogue siblings – or to the range of looks you can
achieve by browsing Range Rover’s options.
Quite apart from the skin – the base
‘Pure’ model is closest to the concept – there are Prestige and Dynamic
variants, a range of colours for car and contrast roof, a range of leathers,
and eureka, trims that don’t just go for the same-ole same-ole traditional or
indsutrial, fake wood and brushed alloy, but play with a theme that takes a
leap into interior design – as in fabrics. Called ‘botanical’, it's currently
available to Kiwis only as a sample pic little larger than a postage stamp.
